Signing my contract

Today I’m signing my first publishing contract. After a brief negotiation, Herald Press has acquired the rights to my book on discipleship and I couldn’t be happier to work with them! They are excited and want to get this book out faster than normal. The title is By The Way: Getting Serious About Following Jesus and it is tentatively set for release next summer.

Oh my…this has been a long time coming! I graduated with an undergraduate degree in English/Writing from Missouri Western State University in 1996. In the late 90s my seminary professors encouraged me to continue to write after graduation. In the mid-2000 I began to figure out that writing was a part of my call as a pastor.

I self-published my first book in 2008, ten years ago. I went on to self publish three other books and write countless online articles. In 2014 when I turned 40 while hiking on the Appalachian Trail I determined to remain focused on writing and publishing.

And then 4 years later…here we are.

I’m so grateful to so many of you who have encouraged me over the years. I appreciate it so much. Thank you. I’m also grateful to Valerie Weaver-Zercher at Herald Press for her enthusiasm for this writing project. I have much more to say, but I now have a deadline (December 1, 2018) to get this book done! So I better get writing. More updates are to come.
